I love local festivals!
There is simply no better way to get a sense for a community that to attend a local celebration. Generally, attending a festival is a free or low cost experience.
While some charge a gate admission, most are free to attend. But be sure to have some cash on hand so you can enjoy the local tastes and flavors or show from the ever-present crafts or vendors.
You can find festivals that celebrate:
- Music & Arts
- Food, Wine and Beer
- Sports & Recreation
- History & Heritage
- Ethnic Cultural Celebrations
- Local Attractions
And thats just the beginning. In Colorado, you can go to a festival in Estes Park to listen to the elk bugling. In quirky Nederland, CO there is a celebration of a local dead guy who is somewhat cryrogenically perserved in a local icehouse.
Whatever state you live in or are traveling to, go to the state’s tourism website, where you can search by date or destination. Here’s the site for Colorado: http://www.colorado.com/SeeEventsAndFestivals.aspx
Go experience a festival or special event this weekend and share your experience with Empty Nester Adventures!
