Are you a carnivore and just love to sink your teeth into a sumptuous piece of good juicy beef every now and then?
Eating red meat does not mean you have to necessarily pack on the calories or up your cholesterol.
If you really enjoy red meat, as my husband does, don’t feel like you have to ban it from your diet; unless of course your doctor recommends it. My sister and a few other friends love their vegetarian lifestyle and say they feel so much better since following this daily diet. I have tasted some of their recipes and I must say, they are delicious! Hopefully, we can hear from them on their experience and we might just choose to cross to the other side.
But back to all of us carnivores. Choosing the right beef, serving reasonable portion sizes and being aware of how often you consume it are the deal breakers. Tenderloin filet, top sirloin and New York strip are some of the healthier choices. Moderation is the key. The other very important factor is being aware of your health history – risk for heart disease and high cholesterol. That all being said, check in the Recipe Box under Health and Wellness to find a wonderful recipe for a filet of beef. The recipe comes from the magazine Eating Light and one of Miraval’s Spa and Resort chefs, Chad Luethje. What are your thoughts on the whole “red meat dilemma”?
